At Tender Response, we understand that navigating new government systems can be daunting—especially when they directly impact your ability to bid for public sector contracts. With the introduction of the GOV.UK One Login, many suppliers are unsure how to access critical information like their PPON or generate a Share Code. That’s why we’ve created this practical guide—to help you stay compliant, connected, and confident in your procurement journey.
If you’re applying to a public sector framework or completing a supplier registration, you may be asked to provide a Share Code. This code allows government departments or buyers to verify your identity or organisation details securely through the GOV.UK One Login system.
But how long do these codes last—and what should you do if yours expires?
A Share Code is typically valid for 90 days from the date it is generated. After this period, the code will expire and can no longer be used to access your information.
This applies to most GOV.UK services, including:
– Immigration status checks
– Right to work or rent verifications
– Supplier identity confirmation for procurement portals
Once expired, the code becomes invalid—even if it hasn’t been used.
If your Share Code has expired or you need to generate a new one for a different purpose, follow these steps:
1. Log in to your GOV.UK One Login at www.gov.uk.
2. Navigate to the section for “Prove your identity” or “View and share your status”.
3. Select the purpose for which you need the code (e.g. right to work, supplier verification).
4. Click “Create a Share Code”.
5. A new code will be generated instantly—copy and share it with the relevant authority or buyer.
Each code is single-use and purpose-specific, so you may need to generate a new one for each request.
– Track expiry dates if you’re managing multiple applications.
– Don’t reuse codes—always generate a fresh one for each new request.
– Keep your GOV.UK login details are secure and enable two-factor authentication.
If you’re unsure how to generate or manage Share Codes, or you’re stuck in the middle of a framework application, we’re here to help.

Public sector tenders often come with detailed specifications — but not always. Sometimes, content may feel vague or open to interpretation, prompting suppliers to consider submitting a clarification question. But here’s the thing: not all ambiguity is bad. In fact, there are moments when not asking a question can give you a strategic edge — […]
SMEs need to focus equally on both the quality of their proposals and the precision of their public sector bids.
